Fully aware of the necessity to be an expert in the products and services it offers, SAMM always provides the ‘optimum’ solution, offering the right product in a cost-effective manner. Our SAMM facilities, located in Gebze Organized Industrial Zone (GOSB), started fiber optic cable production in 2016, and received the registration certificate for the R&D Center in 2018 with law no. 5746. R&D Center has worked on projects in a variety of fields, including fiber sensing technologies, with a number of research institutions and universities.

As part of a collaboration agreement signed with TÜBİTAK Bilgem in 2019, the SAMM Teknoloji R&D center developed and marketed a fiber optic-based distributed acoustic detection system (FOTAS DAS). FOTAS DAS is a system that detects acoustic waves created surrounding a fiber optic cable, analyzes these signals using artificial intelligence algorithms developed in-house, and alerts the end user.

The main applications of FOTAS DAS include pipeline monitoring for oil and gas pipeline security, perimeter security, telecom infrastructure security, and border security. In 2024, the R&D center developed FOTAS DTS, and it joins the fiber optic sensing family. It enables critical applications like  temperature monitoring for RTTR (Real Time Thermal Rating) applications and fire detection for road and rail tunnels, warehouses, data centers, and more.
