A multi-layered FOTAS Fiber Optic Sensing System was deployed to protect the perimeter of one of Türkiye's strategic natural gas production and processing facilities, combining fence-mounted and buried detection in a single hybrid architecture.
The Zonguldak Filyos TPAO Onshore Facility is one of Türkiye's strategic energy infrastructures and a critical site supporting natural gas production and processing operations. To ensure the highest level of perimeter security, a multi-layered FOTAS Fiber Optic Sensing System was installed.
The system was designed with a hybrid architecture that uses both fence-mounted (Fence Protection) and buried detection together. Taking the site's double-fence structure into account, buried sensing cable was laid along the corridor between the two fences, while fiber optic sensing cables were mounted on the fences themselves — delivering genuinely multi-layered protection.
Configured for a total sensing capacity of 30 km across two directions (12 km and 18 km), the system protects the facility perimeter with three complementary detection layers.

The system analyzes vibrations along the fences and the buried corridor, detecting the following events in real time and raising instant alarms for the security teams.
The FOTAS system was integrated into the Genetec Security Center platform so it works seamlessly with the facility's existing security infrastructure.
Alarms generated by the system are relayed to security operators through Genetec in real time.
The exact location of each alarm is displayed on the map, pinpointing where along the perimeter the event occurred.
Operators verify each alarm against the relevant camera footage at the same time, enabling fast and accurate response.
